Abstract

The direction of sensory urbanism is being actively developed in world practice, but only recently has it become the subject of study by Russian researchers. At the same time, the problems of the anthropological turn in architecture, phenomenological concepts in architecture and the problems of modern neuroarchitecture are being actively developed in the domestic scientific discourse. All this, along with the growing interest in sensory issues, are fundamental grounds for entering the formation of sensory urbanism as an integral research direction. The article presents an overview of both domestic and foreign works on this issue with an emphasis on the works of the classic of sensory architecture J. Pallasmaa. The key points of the Sensory Research Manifesto are discussed, claiming to be the basic principles of theoretical and practical research on this topic, including the problems of sensory urbanism. It is a broadly interpreted modern direction that combines sensory research and architecture, the problems of sensation, perception and atmospheric human presence in urban space, as well as new practices of modern tourism.
