ARCHITECTURAL TIME: ATTEMPT OF CONCEPTUALIZATION

Abstract

The article offers a version of conceptualization of the category of architectural time. The concept of architectural time forms a pair with the category of architectural space, for obvious reasons, rather developed in the scientific literature. The architectural space is durable and consists of multi-temporal architectural objects. They are subject to constant interpretations by social actors of socially significant information embedded in them. The implementation of urban planning solutions and the formation of the architectural space of a modern city, focused on creating a comfortable environment for the life of citizens, is impossible without analyzing such a concept as “architectural time”. The most important theoretical sources of its content are the concepts of chronotope, social memory and archetype. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account such processes as the preservation and modernization of the urban and architectural environment, which have their own representation in metropolitan and provincial forms.
