CAUSES AND MECHANISMS OF DAMAGE TO FACADES PLASTER FACING OF THE HISTORICAL STONE BUILDINGS

Abstract

The architectural appearance of Saint Petersburg is formed mainly by buildings whose facades are decorated with plaster solutions. This type of finishing requires increased attention, since incipient coating defects develop rapidly and can lead to serious damage to the enclosing structures and create a threat of collapse of the plaster layer. The paper considers the causes and shows the main mechanisms of destruction of facade plaster of historical buildings located in the central districts of St. Petersburg, provides recommendations aimed at eliminating cases of damage to plaster facade coverings of stone buildings, which are applicable to other settlements of the Russian Federation.
