Abstract

The article substantiates the cross-disciplinary approach relevance to the study and elaboration of recommendations for improving the urban open public spaces’ environment. The social aspects and the importance of their influence consideration on the role of urban public spaces’ traditional types transformation and the new social ties formation are reviewed in detail. In the environmental aspects survey of the urban public spaces’ organization, the role of an ecocentric approach to the issues of their improvement and development is substantiated. The significance of the natural and modified (cultural and anthropogenic) landscape as the “man-nature” relationship basis is indicated. A socio-ecological concept of the formation of city public spaces’ urban planning systems interacting is proposed, their distinctive features and typical structural elements are highlighted, and groups of measures aimed at organizing a socially attractive (livable) public space are given.
