LIFE TRAJECTORIES OF URBAN YOUTH IN RUSSIA AND FOREIGN COUNTRIES
Abstract
The article is devoted to the specifics of the life trajectories of urban youth in Russia and foreign countries. The author, based on the results of a number of social studies, points out key trends in the maturation of modern urban youth: lengthening of the transit period from adolescence to adulthood, freedom to choice the life path, de-standardization and non-linearity of life trajectories, orientation towards higher education. It is shown that certain regional and socio-cultural conditions of life influence the patterns of growing up in the post-modern era. For Russians living in the capital and big cities, the model of growing up, which is similar to the general European model, is typical. The process of growing up in small towns has a special characteristic. Attention is paid to the social and personal resources that contribute to success; new concepts that complement the theory of social capital are explored. Alternative models of success in Russian society and abroad are analyzed. The author proposes to consider Russian cities as a socio-cultural phenomenon that contributes to the formation of a particular system of values, attitudes and behavioral attitudes; this often allows us to talk about a unique value portrait of young people living in a particular city.
