The relevance of the research topic is due to the need to implement system solutions in practice to create an environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient urban environment. Over the past decades, there has been an urgent need to reconstruct the housing stock according to architectural, urban planning and construction requirements. Based on the results of scientific research conducted by the author, the fundamental possibility of reconstructing 5-storey brick buildings of the first mass series according to the standards of green construction is shown. The results obtained convincingly indicate that the reconstruction of buildings of the first mass series according to the GOST 70346-2022 green standard makes it possible to improve almost all green categories. The quality of architecture and site layout, energy efficiency and the quality of the atmosphere, and the level of innovation in sustainable development are particularly noticeably improving. Before the reconstruction, the buildings of the first mass series did not meet the requirements of green construction. After the reconstruction of these buildings, a rating rating of "good" was obtained. A comparison of the results obtained according to the independent green standards GOST 70346-2022 and NOSTRA 2.35.4-2011 shows their qualitative consistency. Thus, the reconstruction of buildings of the first mass series according to the standards of green construction makes it possible to create a fundamentally new, environmentally sustainable, energy-efficient architecture in order to preserve and improve the quality of the environment for future generations.
