This article explores the alternative economy of new developments. Using the example of the Severnaya Dolina residential complex in St. Petersburg, it examines neighborly exchanges of items, buying and selling, and gifting, all conducted through an online neighborhood group on the VKontakte platform. The author proposes a new conceptualization of the concept of sharing and, drawing on digital ethnography data, demonstrates that such interactions between neighbors can be viewed as sharing practices aimed at maintaining a common resource—the flow of items circulating throughout the residential complex.
