Abstract

This article examines emerging urban development trends in ecovillages, based on the goal of creating a comfortable, rationally designed human habitat. The article's relevance stems from the emergence of new trends in urban development systems in modern architectural and urban planning practice, one of which can be represented by an ecovillage. The study examines the main stages of ecovillage development using international and domestic examples and analyzes the experience of establishing ecovillages in the Russian Federation. It identifies trends in the development of ecovillages as sustainable environments that meet contemporary socioeconomic and urban development needs. Key criteria for ecovillages as an urban development system are highlighted, influencing the design's functional and spatial model.
