ARCHITECTURAL AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL OF THE MONUMENT OF CONSTRUCTIVISM: OF THE PRINTING HOUSE IN VOLGOGRAD

Abstract

Absrtact. The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the reconstruction facility, the Printing House, located in the Central District of Volgograd, and its reconstruction with a change in functional purpose to a tourist hotel. The reconstruction facility has been out of service since 2011. Previously, this building was a 14-storey facility with a functional purpose - the printing shop of a local city newspaper. The signboard of the newspaper’s organization, Volgogradskaya Pravda, is installed on the main facade. The relevance of this article is the need to analyze the history and current state of the facilities of the post-war period, using the example of the Press House, located on 11, Kommunisticheskaya St., under a modern tourist hotel complex. The purpose of the article is a comprehensive analysis of the facility, including its design features and the architectural and urban development potential of the facility and its inclusion in the urban environment. To carry out a comprehensive analysis of the object, it is necessary: 1) historical and cultural analysis of the object, revealing its belonging to cultural heritage sites, its value and interaction with urban development; 2) visual inspection of the object for the presence of deviations in the structural elements; 3) modern architectural and urban planning conditions and compositional links with significant objects of the city; 4) analysis of the degree of tourist development and inclusion in the existing military-historical routes; 5) a project proposal for the architectural and spatial organization of the adjacent territory and the inclusion of the object in a single historical framework of the city.
