Abstract

In the context of the global environmental turn, the sustainable development of urban areas is aimed at creating new spatial paradigms based on the theoretical study of the structure and functions of the water-green frame as a key element of the urban planning system. The relevance of this work is due to the lack of methodological foundations for the formation of the water-green frame. The purpose of this study is analysis of the structure and functions of the water-green frame based on a structural and systemic approach. The methodological basis of the work is based on the principles of scientific structuralism, which allow us to consider the water and green framework as a sign system with invariant relations between its elements, as well as on the system analysis used in urban planning. The article reveals the essence of the water and green framework as an open, multi-level system that integrates natural and anthropogenic-natural elements into a single whole. The article reveals the essence of the water-green frame as an open, multi-level system that integrates natural and anthropogenic-natural elements into a single whole. The article presents an analysis of the structural properties of the water-green frame (integrity, connectivity, and hierarchy), as well as a classification of the external and internal factors that influence its formation (climatic, anthropogenic, topographic, etc.). Special attention is given to the social functions of the frame, including its impact on the mental and physical health of the population, the development of social capital, and the formation of territorial identity.
