Abstract

It is known that the basis of the urban framework are large transport highways that ensure the functioning of the city as a single system. In the development of linear cities, the transport factor is crucial. In this regard, it is of interest to use the methodology of structural and functional analysis proposed by A. E. Gutnov as a tool for identifying the urban framework for analyzing the territory of Volgograd, a typical example of a linear city. The features of the structural and functional organization of Volgograd, identified during the analysis, substantiate the need for the development of urban areas in pedestrian zones of rapid public transport stations, which is one of the key provisions of the concept of transit-oriented development (TOP), which has become an important area of urban planning in recent decades. The article describes a structural and functional analysis of the Volgograd territory in the QGIS GIS based on open data to determine patterns of change in structural and functional indicators of zones with the potential of TOP. The absence of a direct correlation between the connectivity and functional value of peripheral territories with the potential of TOP, confirmed during the analysis, corresponds to the criterion described by A. E. Gutnov for classifying territories as a potential reserve for the development of the urban planning system.
