The article examines how the demolition of buildings got on the agenda and became a relevant and interesting news story for the townspeople. The media has become a tool in the hands of public figures, allowing them to highlight the demolition, draw the attention of citizens to it and identify important issues related, on the one hand, to the preservation of historical buildings, and, on the other, to the protection of those buildings that do not have a protected status, but are still valuable to citizens. The conflict over demolition mainly revolves around those sites that are not included in the Unified Register of Cultural Heritage Sites or in the list of identified cultural heritage sites, and their fate is determined by the decision of the owner. The submission of an application for the inclusion of an object in the list temporarily stops the demolition work. Reports of demolition in the information field arise unexpectedly, they are accompanied by footage from the scene, archival photos of objects, and subsequent rapidly developing events undoubtedly arouse interest. The media plays a key role in covering the demolition, directly influencing the perception of the value of an object. The article lists the main frames used in the messages, as well as the differences in the description of the facts of demolition in Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Kurgan and Chelyabinsk.
