The field of sensory urbanism is actively developing globally, not only acquiring clear theoretical foundations but also entering the practical realm. For Russian researchers, this problematic field is only just emerging as a subject of study. At the same time, domestic academic discourse is exploring the anthropological turn in architecture, phenomenological concepts in architecture, and the relatively new challenges of contemporary neuroarchitecture. All of this, along with the growing interest in sensory issues, provides a fundamental basis for the emergence of sensory urbanism as a holistic research field in Russia. This article presents an overview of both domestic and international works on this topic, with an emphasis on the works of J. Pallasmaa, a classic of sensory architecture. Key provisions of the "Manifesto for Sensory Research" are discussed, which claim to serve as the foundational principles for theoretical and practical research on this topic, including the issues of sensory urbanism. This is a broadly interpreted contemporary trend that combines sensory research and architecture, issues of sensation, perception and the atmospheric presence of a person in urban space, as well as new practices of modern tourism.
